So, what are the 9+1 most essential things we do exclusively during this week?<\/p>\n

Become more mindful about fasting<\/u>: For many people, fasting is not a consistent habit. However, during Holy Week it takes on a different meaning. Even those who do not usually follow religious fasting throughout the year put an effort into turning into simpler, fasting-friendly foods. Tables are filled with legumes, vegetable dishes cooked in olive oil, and seafood, while there is a general sense of “cleansing”\u2014not only dietary but also psychological. It seems like there is an unspoken agreement that, this week, we will all try to follow the fast.<\/p>\n

Go to church (at least once)<\/u>: No matter how close one feels to religion, Holy Week has a way of bringing people closer to church services. Whether out of faith or simply for the tradition, most people will attend at least once. Eat magiritsa (or not)<\/u>: After fasting, magiritsa<\/em> comes almost symbolically. It is the first “normal” meal after days of restriction.
