It’s back to school time as the first school bell is about to ring in a few days. Our little friends will have to leave their carefree holiday mood behind and adapt themselves to a busy and demanding everyday schedule. Usually, it’s not a very pleasant switchover, yet it can get a bit easier if parents get prepared (and, thus, prepare their children) properly.
If you wish to make the return to school requirements as smooth as possible for your children, note the following:
Time to set the alarm clock
For almost 3 months, our little friends enjoyed the sea as well as carefree strolls, played games with friends and had “sleepovers” in front of the TV or the computer. In other words, they forgot what schedule, tasks and alarm clock mean! Yet, it’s about time they slowly got used to the idea of waking up in the morning and went to bed early at night. Thus, in order not to find it hard on the very first day of school, bring the alarm clock back to children’s daily routine and determine a specific time when they should go to bed at night.
A visit to the doctor
Now that kids still have free time, since school and other extracurricular activities haven’t started yet, schedule the essential appointment to the pediatrician or the pathologist, as it’s almost certain that you will be asked for a medical certificate either by the school itself or by a sports area. In addition, it’s a good time to visit a dentist and/or an ophthalmologist, thus completing children’s annual medical history.
The perfect room
As children grow up and change grades, their needs become different. Make sure, before the beginning of the school year, to proceed (if necessary) with the necessary changes into their bedroom. Is it time to transform the child room to a teenage one? Is there a need to buy a bigger desk, add a bookcase or make changes to the layout? Create an ideal place, which meets all children’s needs, since we shouldn’t forget that it’s not just a simple bedroom. It’s their personal space, their retreat.
Buy the school essentials
Don’t wait until the first day of school to buy all the necessary supplies. Certainly, you will be given a school-list, though you can start by arranging the basics. First, check which of last year’s items could be used again this year. Then, buy whatever you deem necessary (e.g., a new school bag or case, stationery and notebooks, a flask or new tapers, an umbrella, etc.). Follow the same procedure with children’s clothes or shoes. Finally, don’t forget to buy your favorite Macrovita Schooldays Shampoo to keep unpleasant surprises away!
Smarter, not harder
Children should learn how to plan their reading and homework tasks in a way that enables them to stay consistent and be well-read, yet still manage to have some free time at the end of the day, in order to indulge in a favorite pastime. Make a conversation now, inform them about the specific days and hours they will have extracurricular activities, and help them prepare a study plan they can happily follow. That way, you will also feel assured that they know how to manage their after-school time by having a routine that allows them to work methodically without stressing out.
Follow the above tips and welcome the new school year without surprises.
Have a good start!
