Skincare comes to the forefront during the holiday season, and DIY recipes are our secret ally. Try our favorite shine and luminosity face mask for instant and guaranteed results. We surely use it all year round, yet it is highly demanded during Christmas! We will need:

1 ½ glasses cold water

3 tablespoons brown rice

1 tablespoon milk

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons OLIVE.ELIA Rice Bran Oil

Pour the water into a pot and add the rice. Let it soak for 5′ and then boil it on low heat until it becomes tender enough. Drain the rice and place it into a bowl. Save the boiling water separately in a clean bottle. Add the milk, honey and rice oil to the bowl of rice and mix thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and uniform. Take a sufficient amount and apply it on your face. Leave on for 20′-30′ and then rub lightly, in circular upward motions, until the thick pieces are removed. Use the rice water and a piece of cotton to clean off the mask residues from your face.

Brown rice contains an abundance of nutrients that offer a youthful, healthy and protected skin. They will nourish and moisturize the epidermis, stimulate cell regeneration, help to improve blood circulation and – most importantly – protect cells against oxidative stress, which is responsible for aging and photoaging. Honey and milk will strengthen skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF), providing more than 40% of the necessary amino acids, which are important for maintaining the normal metabolic activity of cells, since they participate in the synthesis of both collagen and elastin. Rice water, full of antioxidant elements, has the property to absorb ultraviolet rays and eliminate the melanin production, preventing the formation of spots or freckles, as well as softening the existing ones. Finally, rice bran oil will regenerate the cells and gradually provide a uniform skin (color) tone. Speaking of glowing skin, we could not help but share with you the recipe for a firming and elasticizing face and body mask, since we all know that a firm, tight epidermis looks more radiant, fresh and youthful. To prepare it, we will need:

1 egg white

1 tablespoon OLIVE.ELIA Wheat Germ Oil

1 tablespoon OLIVE.ELIA Avocado Oil

¼ cup flour

Whisk the egg white in a bowl until it becomes like foam. Add the oils and mix well until the mixture becomes uniform. Add the flour in portions, mixing constantly until the mixture becomes thick and creamy. Apply to face and body and leave on for at least 20’, before removing with lukewarm water and a soft sponge.

Egg white contains mainly proteins and small amounts of lecithin, fat, carbohydrates and B vitamins, which will tone, firm, care and protect our skin. At the same time, wheat germ oil and avocado oil will provide our skin with elasticity. Finally, the flour will control excess sebum and regulate oiliness. And now comes the best part: As the mask dries, the lifting effect becomes more intense!
