Lice (Phthiraptera) are a very diverse group of insects, exclusively adapted to parasitism. Lice can be divided into two main groups: sucking lice (Anoplura) and chewing lice (Mallophaga). Anoplura are important parasites of both humans and animals. In humans, louse infestation is known as pediculosis if caused by head lice or body lice, and as pthiriasis if caused by pubic lice.
Pediculosis is a contagious parasitic infestation, transmitted from human-to-human by close contact or, in body lice, via infested clothes or bed linen. The most common louse infestation in humans is pediculosis capitis (commonly known as head lice), particularly affecting school children between three and eleven years, and clinically manifesting as scalp pruritus. In order to prevent getting head lice, it is important to teach your children to avoid close contact with other kids, as well as avoid playing with or fixing other children’s hair or sharing items such as brushes, combs, hats, hair accessories, scarves and jackets.
For sure, MACROREPEL Schooldays Shampoo with vinegar & quassia for headlice prevention is your ally. Specially formulated for the entire family, moisturizes and softens hair, while repelling and inhibiting head lice growth. Prevents larvae and nits’ adhesion to the scalp by dissolving and inhibiting the formation of chitin that protects and holds them on hair.
MACROVITA Tea Tree Oil with vitamin E, widely known for its anti-lice properties, could be also used as a complementary, natural treatment.
Finally, if cases of head lice have been reported at the nursery or school, it is necessary to check your children’s hair at least every three or four days.
Getting rid of head lice may be grinding, yet there is no need for undue concern, taking into consideration that an outbreak of lice does not pose a health risk. Lice do not carry diseases and do no harm to the head or scalp. All you must do is to contact your pediatrician so as to get appropriately advised. By showing a little patience and, of course, using the products indicated by the doctor, children should be free of lice and nits about two weeks after the initial treatments. Once you are done, follow the steps below to ensure that you are not going to deal with a new breakthrough of head lice:
This year, choose MACROVITA for lice-free hair and scalp!
