Cellulite is an endogenous change in skin’s texture, most commonly appearing and predominantly affecting the female population. It is formed due to the abnormal concentration of fat and water between the skin and the subcutaneous tissue. The connective tissue loses its elasticity (collagen), causing the skin to take on an abnormal look, known as the “orange peel appearance”. Cellulite mainly occurs in certain parts of the body, such as the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, and calves. Even though it does not pose a health risk, it is an aesthetic problem that affects the psychology of many people in a negative way.

Undoubtedly, a diet low in fat and salt, combined with adequate hydration and regular exercise, will enhance the attempt of improving the orange peel appearance. However, it is true that supplementary support using specialized skin care products is necessary. Given the fact that we love and totally trust the power of nature, we know firsthand that birch oil and ivy oil are top in the treatment of cellulite. Thus, these two vegetable cosmetic oils will become our ultimate allies.
First, it is worth mentioning that birch -in some sources referred to as Betula- is a deciduous tree, which grows at high altitudes in northern Greece and is widely known for its pesticidal and bactericidal properties. In this regard, birch oil acts preventively against stretch marks and loose skin by boosting skin’s elasticity, while reducing the “orange peel” effect and localized fat. On the other hand, ivy is an evergreen, climbing, or creeping shrub, found mainly in Africa, Europe, and Asia, while the widely known species of ivy in Greece is the cultivated species called Hedera Helix. It has anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, antibacterial, and anti-cellulite properties, and is mainly used in slimming and anti-cellulite products. Therefore, use ivy oil to enhance your self-confidence by helping your skin to reduce the “orange peel” effect and improve its microcirculation by massaging the body areas in need.
TIP: For even better results, mix 2 parts of MACROVITA Birch Oil with 2 parts of MACROVITA Ivy Oil. Apply a sufficient amount of the mixture to the body areas in need, then massage locally in order to create hyperemia in the area. Allow enough time to act without wiping it off (preferably wait until it gets absorbed) and repeat the process daily (or for as long as needed).
For sure, you may also use these vegetable cosmetic oils in order to prepare a DIY anti-cellulite exfoliating mask. You will need:
5 tbsp sea salt
2 tbsp dried Luisa leaves (optional)
2 tbsp MACROVITA Birch Oil
4 tbsp MACROVITA Ivy Oil
If you have dried Luisa leaves available, rub them with your hands until they become powder and place them in a bowl. Αdd the rest of the ingredients and mix them well until the mixture becomes uniform. Take a sufficient amount and apply to the body areas of interest, rubbing vigorously in upward circular motions for a few minutes before removing with lukewarm water. Sea salt will create local hyperemia and prepare the skin for the rest of the ingredients, while dried Luisa leaves will tone the area, promoting the fat burning process. Finally, birch oil will stimulate lymphatic circulation, also detoxifying the skin, while ivy oil will help reduce the volume of fat cells and release water.
Well, what do you think? Will you give them a try?
