Breakfast and snacks that will keep your kids energized at school!
Eating a healthy and complete breakfast is important and beneficial, since it supplies the body with the necessary nutrients, also boosting energy levels as well as increasing concentration and memory. Especially for children, who must respond to a busy daily routine, requiring both physical and mental energy and awareness, breakfast is very important. As a result, parents are often concerned. Which choice is both filling and healthy, but most of all likeable to kids? Which is the suitable breakfast or snack, that children will be willing to eat happily at school and won’t bring it back intact?
Occasioned by the beginning of the new school year, we suggest some nutritious and balanced breakfast and snack ideas, that children can keep in their schoolbags easily!
Breakfast time!
If possible, it’s better to enjoy their breakfast at home, before leaving for school. However, if this cannot be the case, an easy to transport, healthy and homemade morning meal is the best way to start their day. Some healthy and tasty options could be:
yogurt with whole grain cereals
toast with tahini and honey on whole meal or multigrain bread
tortillas with cream cheese, chicken or egg and fresh vegetables
flatbread with omelet and fresh vegetables
egg crepes
yogurt with fruits and honey
pancakes with oats and banana
In any case, it’s better to avoid – at least daily – sweet or salty baked products (e.g., croissants, chocolates, puff pastry).
Snack o’clock
When it comes to snacks, there are many options and combinations that can be made! We just let our imagination run free and put into children’s school bags:
homemade cereal bars
brittle
small tortilla rolls with banana and dark chocolate drops
mix of fresh or dried fruits and nuts
fresh fruits
Yet, if your kids don’t feel like eating in the morning or tend to skip their snack, try some clever “solutions” to convince them to eat:
Pay attention to the “wrapping”: The way you pack meals matters more than you think. Use colorful utensils and patterned tubs to make mealtimes more fun.
Artistic concerns: Peel off fruits and vegetables and then cut them into cute shapes. This method can help them consume foods that they find less tasty more willingly.
Use your imagination: One reason why children may be indifferent to their breakfast or snack is monotony. Try to prepare something different each day. By doing this, you will make sure that they are provided with the necessary nutritional variety. As for your children? They will look forward to opening their “lunchbox” in order to find out their surprise meal!
